FAQ

Q. How do I know that 100% of my money is going to the wrestling program?
A. Your donation will be deposited into a Wrestling fund account at the ASU Foundation. The fund is to be used for ASU wrestling only.

Q. How do I make monthly payments, and is it automatic?
A. You can set up a payment plan by contacting the Sun Devil Club staff at endow@asuwrestling.com.

Q. Is my donation tax deductible?
A. Your donation is 100% deductible if no benefits are taken and 80% if benefits are used.

Q What would happen to the endowment money if the program were cancelled again?
A. We would exhaust all funds designated for the wrestling program until the program no longer existed.

Q. Where does the money go?
A. Funds raised will be housed at the ASU Foundation for the purpose of ASU Wrestling. Each year, the Foundation will transfer funds to cover the operating expenses of the wrestling program.

Q. Who can I make a check out to?
A. You can make your donations by check payable to ASU Foundation - Wrestling Fund.

Q. Where do I mail my check?
A. You can send your donation to:

Q. Since the program has been reinstated, why do you need my donation?
A. We have reinstated the program on the promise that the wrestling community at large will fund the program to sustain its operating expenses. We have not raised the funds necessary to sustain the program at this point.

Q If the program operating expenses are $400,000 annually, why do you need to raise $8 million?
A. We used the logic that if we have $8 million in the bank earning interest or investment income, it will produce annual income of $400,000 at a minimum to operate the program. The $8 million endowment would never be spent at this rate and would grow as the needs of the program grow.

Q. If I give services (gift in kind) is that tax deductible?
A. Yes. Prior approval is needed to guarantee that the goods or services are something that we would normally purchase or use.

Q. If I donate, will I still get all the Sun Devil Club benefits?
A. Yes.

Q. How much money needs to be raised?
A. Our initial goal is to raise $400,000 for operating costs and $8 million to secure the endowment fund.

Q. What is the time frame to raise the money?
A. 3 years.
